What is Pilates
"If your spine is inflexibly stiff at 30, you are old; if it is completely flexible at 60, you are young." - Joseph H. Pilates
The Pilates philosophy combines elements of yoga, breath work, weight training, and gymnastics. It helps to develop weak and imbalanced muscles in the deeper torso and around the spine to create and maintain a structurally fit body. Better posture, leaner muscles, and increased self-image are just a few of the many benefits that Pilates can bring. Many feel a difference after the first session.
The basic principles of Pilates conditioning are to improve muscle control, strength, flexibility, and coordination. Once the body is trained to work as a single integrated unit, it becomes better aligned and balanced, which increases the efficiency of movement. The method consists of a sequence of carefully performed movements, both on equipment and on a mat. The movements are designed to stretch and strengthen the muscles involved, opening the joints and releasing tension.
"In 10 sessions you'll feel the difference, in 20 you'll see the difference, and in 30 you'll have a new body" - Joseph H. Pilates
